And another thing...

It's summertime
As we close out June we keep the momentum going for July. Hang on to your hat and we'll share the start of our summer with you. We last shared Student Camp with you. The next week was a regular week for us, as much as possible anyway. Last week was VBS week and what a great time we each had. The days were long and hard but we loved every moment of them. Sunday after church we spent the rest of the day getting the campus ready for VBS. We reached home by 8 with little energy left. Monday started around 6 AM which the children embraced each day of that week. Sorta. I left at noon to go home, shower and go into the office and maintained that schedule for 4 days. Wm and his Admin worked the same schedule in the hopes of the other staff keeping us awake until quitting time. Monday afternoon the children went home with friends, Tuesday afternoon they napped.
Wednesday was a different schedule for us as it was my birthday~ # 40!! Good friends took me to lunch while William kept 7 children ranging in age 10 months to 12 years. He got priority seating at McDonald's. We came back to the house to find a surprise party in the makings---for me!! What fun. The children had decorated the house and there was ice cream cake!! That night Wm brought in pasta milano from Macaroni Grill for supper. YUMMY
Thursday and Friday went by quickly and we ended VBS with a visit from one of the characters we'd watched all week long. Check out the video at our church web page www.fbcweston.org You might recognize some people.
Saturday we spent doing what had been neglected at the house and cleaning up from VBS. And then there was Sunday...
Now we're preparing for the 4th (plans aren't finalized except a parade downtown Weston and then our church has a picnic at the ending point where Wm will run Kid Blast) and Camp Kid Blast which starts next Monday. That will be another busy, fun, exhausting week for the whole family.
Chace is going to basketball camp each day this week which is at the church. He shared with me how sweaty he had gotten. ; ) In August Jess will be going to volleyball camp at church. This guarantees her a spot on the team and boy is she excited.
Which brings me to our next big news, we are putting the children into school in the Fall. Many reasons and lots of prayers surround our decision. This is an absolute first for all three and sure to bring on many emotions before we conquer the first year.
Which brings me to another decision that was recently made and finalized yesterday. I think I was concerned about losing our freedom to travel whenever we wanted to so booked flights for the children and I to go to NC to visit family. Don't worry, William will be at Staff Retreat during our absence and if you know my husband you know how much he doesn't like NC. It's a win win all the way around.
I think I'll close for now and dig up some pics to share with you.

Teamwork

Each day the children had to put themselves in a certain order; height, age, foot, ABC, you get the idea. OH, and there was no talking during the exercise. Some of the children thought they could whisper and that counted as no talking. We realized that we had an even year going on---2, 4, 4, 6, 6, 8, 8, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10, 10 and the girls out numbered the boys.

We had theme days and the top pictures show Crazy Hair Day. All the girls braided Chace's hair while Nadege braided the girl's hair. The bottom two pictures show us at movie night. They look all cosy and relaxed. We started the week with 14 children. Day 2 one peeled off to go visit his grandmother. Thursday afternoon 2 more headed home so we were down to 11. By then the children were tired and most of them coughing or sneezing. Friday we headed home and I think we were all ready for that event to take place.
Student Camp memories

These three pictures represent day one. We got caught in a rain storm and just went with it. God rewarded us with 2 beautiful complete rainbows. They were amazing, I just wish my cell phone could have captured the whole picture.
The children found many different creatures, including turtles, alligators, frogs, grasshoppers, cranes, a dog, cats, cows, horses, lovebugs, mosquitoes, ants, and many more
