Lego Land in Downtown Disney. Julian is waiting in line behind Nick while Jessica stands in the balcony. Chace was, no doubt, inside the store shopping.
Can you see all four children? They are in there. Chace is climbing, as always. Jessica is close behind waiting for her chance to climb. And you can clearly see Julian and Nick with his mouse ears on.

Are things slowing down or speeding up?

Yes! And no. : ) We've managed to slow things down a few times in January; but I can't help notice that February is dancing right behind her. MLK weekend the family drove to Orlando for an extended weekend. I was invited to a conference for AWANA which I thoroughly enjoyed. We were blessed to find out that my sister's husband also had a conference in Orlando so we spent some time with them and their youngest son. The weather was wishy washy- one day cold, then warm and back to cold again. We certainly weren't prepared clothing wise, but we managed. The children did get to enjoy the pool a couple of times. One evening we did laser tag, as a family. That was quite a hoot as I've never done this before. The others had a leg up on me but I held my own quite well.
Today Julian was baptised. What a big smile she had on her face when she stood in the water. It was sweet to see. Her gentle spirit really was shining through at that moment.
And then there's Chace. He asked me how to spell 'weirdo' recently. I complied and then later found out that he was labeling ME with that word in a picture he had drawn. His lack for a better description left me with the not so nice name.
Jessica is learning a lesson on care for her teeth when a baby one came out not looking so healthy. She's settled into her new regimen and willingly submits to teeth inspections.
William heads out on his first trip of the year without us. He'll only be gone two nights but I'm certain it will feel like an eternity to us. There's a few places the children have been asking to go visit; now is the time to pull those cards. Until then it's work, work, work for everyone.

Happy New Year

Hello and welcome to 2008. In trying to remember the newest year, I over compensate and write 2009. Time to slow that down.

We are back from vacation and into the swing of every day life. William hopped right into action as soon as the van hit the driveway. I suspect we'll be seeing less and less of daddy at home until about July. But before I rush ahead, let me share some highlights of our vacation with you.

I left Florida with a bit of a head cold and it didn't take long for the children to join in my discomfort. God's grace kept it away from William, that and all the vitamins I was shoving his way. Our night in Orlando was brief but we did manage to go to Downtown Disney. The next stop was NC and we were thrilled to see my sister and her family. Unfortunately one cousin wasn't in town but the children did get to see their two oldest cousins, whom haven't been seen in a couple of years. What a blast that was.
The next morning we drove into Roanoke, VA where we set up camp for most of our trip. There we got to see William's family including his sister and her family, his parents and his Aunt and Uncle. While there we also got to see snow and ice and William's childhood vacation spot. Plus, many other childhood memories. We also got to meet the now famous Gary whom was a neighbor and best friend of William's. His stories and memories matched daddy's so there must be some truth in the tales. Although it had been about 3 years since some of us had seen this side of the family, we all melted together as if it were just yesterday. We also got to slow down long enough to see beautiful bright stars in the night sky, deer and buffalo.
December 30th we drove to Georgia to see my parents and my brother and sister and her family. Mom's birthday is New Year's Day so we made sure to stay up past midnight on New Year's Eve to celebrate with her. All three children, beyond their colds now, managed to stay awake as well. The next day we went to see former neighbors; a wonderful family with 6 children and good friends of ours. I was pleased to see mom, who now has three girls, wearing a PINK shirt. When she lived in FL she claimed to not have any pink in her closet. Jennifer, you look great in pink.
Our coldest stop was GA where we saw temperatures below the teens, brrrrrr. Now the children have a better concept of what 'freezing' means and hopefully won't use it so loosely.
Some highlights for me: spending more time with my family, Julian falling asleep in my lap not once, not twice, not three times, but four times during our vacation, seeing Chace create a puppet that came to mind, (Aunt Pat was of great help with this endeavor), seeing friends we haven't seen in way too long of time and having time to do more for my children. It was really great seeing each and every family member and friend that we came across on our journey. We hope to see each and everyone of them again soon. Until then, to you and you and you, know that our door is always open and we would love to see you down in sunny, warm (not freezing) Florida.
